A route to shape around your client
This short Norwegian coastal cruise connects Bergen and Trondheim with two nights at sea. Time ashore at both ends gives the journey more depth than a port-to-port transfer, bringing together harbour history, coastal landscapes and Trondheim’s city life.
The outline allows 5 nights, including arrival and departure planning. Keep the sequence, extend a favourite base or change the balance of activity and downtime. This is an illustrative FIT journey for travel agents; accommodation, transport and experiences are selected for the final brief.
A flexible starting point
Build around a confirmed northbound coastal sailing. The proposed section takes three calendar days and two nights aboard. Port calls are often short; fjord diversions vary by date. Hotel standard and cabin category can be adapted.
Culture & Community

Day 1
Arrive in Bergen
Arrive in Bergen and settle into a central hotel before exploring the harbour on foot. This first night gives you a proper introduction to the city and separates the flight from the following evening’s sailing. Overnight: Bergen.

Day 2
Bergen, then embark
A guided walk through Bryggen brings Bergen’s waterfront history into focus. Later, travel to the coastal terminal for the confirmed departure and settle into your cabin as the city gives way to islands and open water. Overnight: aboard.

Day 3
The western coast
Spend the day watching the western coast unfold through islands, headlands and working harbours. A walk in Ålesund may be possible within the scheduled port call; any fjord detour depends on the ship’s seasonal programme. Overnight: aboard.

Day 4
Trondheim
Disembark in Trondheim and leave your luggage at the hotel before exploring Bakklandet. Its streets and riverside setting make a gentle first outing, without the pressure of a timed visit immediately after arrival. Overnight: Trondheim.

Day 5
A full city day
Explore Trondheim at a more leisurely pace, with time for Nidaros Cathedral and the riverfront. A food walk can add local context, while the cafés and neighbourhood streets leave plenty to discover independently. Overnight: Trondheim.
