A route to shape around your client
A Reykjavík and West Iceland winter break limits the distance covered each day. Two nights in the Borgarfjörður area allow waterfalls, local history and warm-water bathing to be planned around daylight, with a city night before the flight home.
The outline allows 4 nights, including arrival and departure planning. Keep the sequence, extend a favourite base or change the balance of activity and downtime. This is an illustrative FIT journey for travel agents; accommodation, transport and experiences are selected for the final brief.
A flexible starting point
Use a driver-guide for the winter road section. Daylight and road conditions determine the daily route; keep city alternatives if travel is disrupted. Aurora outings are optional and sightings are never guaranteed.

Hotel examples
Hotel Hamar, near Borgarnes
A countryside base outside Borgarnes for the West Iceland nights. Day trips should allow for winter driving times and the available daylight.

Hraunfossar waterfall visit — use open, maintained access and allow the day’s road and weather conditions to set the timing.
A warm-water bathing stop in West Iceland — select a facility that fits the route and confirm the required booking and age rules.

Day 3
Warm water, winter light
Combine geothermal bathing with nearby landscape visits, keeping the day manageable within the available daylight. An evening northern lights outing may be added when the forecast is promising, without making a sighting part of the promise. Overnight: same base.
