A route to shape around your client
This Stockholm archipelago itinerary adds two island nights to a city break. Staying on Grinda or around Vaxholm makes time for short walks and waterside meals, while the final Stockholm night keeps the onward journey separate from the ferry connection.
The outline allows 4 nights, including arrival and departure planning. Keep the sequence, extend a favourite base or change the balance of activity and downtime. This is an illustrative FIT journey for travel agents; accommodation, transport and experiences are selected for the final brief.
A flexible starting point
Choose the island base only after checking the seasonal boat timetable and luggage access. This is a shore-based stay with ferry or excursion-cruise legs. Return to Stockholm the night before departure.

Day 1
Stockholm
Arrive in Stockholm and explore part of the city on foot before the island stay. Accommodation near a convenient departure quay makes the following morning easier and leaves time for a first evening in the capital. Overnight: Stockholm.

Day 2
Out to the islands
Take a scheduled boat towards Vaxholm or Grinda, according to the chosen island base. After checking in, follow the shoreline paths and enjoy an afternoon shaped by the waterfront rather than another connection. Overnight: island base.

Day 3
One island, one full day
Enjoy a full day on one island, with walks, a long lunch and swimming when conditions are suitable. Staying put gives the archipelago more space in the journey than a succession of brief ferry stops. Overnight: same base.

Day 4
Back to the city
Return to Stockholm on a confirmed daytime boat and settle into your city hotel. The afternoon can include a neighbourhood visit, with the island crossing completed before the following day’s departure. Overnight: Stockholm.

Day 5
